Progress is being made with the installation of a new substation at Roseburn, Edinburgh as part of our ongoing campaign to deliver major improvements to the electricity network.
The original Roseburn substation, along with the surrounding neighbourhood, has in the past been susceptible to flooding. To combat this the new substation is being constructed to a standard that will make it much less likely to be affected should flooding occur in the future.
Allan Kelly, Project Manager, said “ We expect construction to be completed by the end of the year. The new substation will reinforce the local electricity network helping to enhance security of supplies. We have faced a number of significant challenges throughout the work programme but these have been overcome by working closely with the neighbouring community. We are very grateful for their patience and co-operation whilst this important work is being carried out” Whilst in the area, the Project Team made a visit to the local primary school giving pupils a talk on safety around electricity. The visit was so well received that we have already arranged another visit in the new school term.
